Albania among 40 allied countries for Hormuz, Minister Hoxha: Coordinated efforts to reopen the critical sea route
Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Ferit Hoxha has been part of the virtual meeting convened by British Secretary Cooper on the Strait of Hormuz. In a post on X, Minister Hoxha announces: “Today I participated in the virtual meeting convened by the Foreign Secretary of the United Kingdom, Yvette Cooper, which brought together counterparts from over 40 countries to address the urgent need to restore freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz following its closure by Iran in the context of the ongoing conflict.
The discussions focused on coordinated international efforts, through diplomatic and political means, but not only, to ensure the safe and sustainable reopening of this critical sea route, which is vital to global energy security and economic stability.
Unity, coordination and a rules-based international approach are essential. Freedom of navigation is a fundamental principle that must be respected.
Albania is ready to cooperate closely with partners and allies to support de-escalation efforts and contribute to collective initiatives and solutions."
