World Autism Day/ Payments for children with disabilities doubled and insurance for caregivers recognized

The Albanian government will double the monthly payment for 11,000 children with disabilities, and for the first time, social and health insurance will be recognized for about 14,000 of their caregivers and assistants.
During the activity "PAK Art in Pedestrian", in Berat, Deputy Prime Minister Albana Koçiu, Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Evis Sala and Minister of State for Local Government, Ervin Demo were present.
Minister Sala announced that for the first time, the monthly payment for people with disabilities will be doubled, one of the most important initiatives in support of them.
"Today we are launching the National Action Plan for Persons with Disabilities for the years 2026–2030. This is not only a political commitment, but an obligation to citizens and an important step on the path towards the European Union. We are finalizing the support package for doubling the financial payment for about 11 thousand children with disabilities, including children with autism spectrum, blind children, tetraparaplegics and children with Down syndrome," declared the minister.
The Minister for Local Government, Ervin Demo, noted the key role of local government in implementing these policies, emphasizing the need for stronger cooperation and coordination between the central and local levels.
"The needs in the territory must receive concrete responses through the creation of appropriate synergies, both with central government policies and the financial instruments it offers, as well as with the services that the municipalities themselves make available. It is encouraging that these policies are focused on citizens and the most needy groups. At the same time, it is necessary for municipalities to increase their commitment and funding to improve the quality of services at the local level", Demo emphasized.
These decisions directly translate into practice Albania's commitments to the European integration process, bringing concrete policies that truly support children with disabilities and their caregivers.
