New power plants, 262 MW added to domestic production - Impact from the growth of solar plants, private sector owns 55% of the total

About 262 MW were added to domestic electricity generation capacity during 2025, reaching a total of 3478 MW. According to the Energy Regulatory Authority, the increase in installed capacity during the year was mainly a result of the increase in renewable sources of photovoltaic electricity, connected to both the transmission and distribution networks.
With the addition of new power plants, private producers account for about 55% of this capacity, while the electricity production capacity of the public company KESH is 1563 MW and accounts for about 45% of the total.
Meanwhile, the total net domestic electricity production realized for 2025 is 7467 GWh, about 50% of which was produced by KESH and 50% by other producers.
Compared to 2024, production decreased by 369 GWh, highlighting once again the dependence of electricity production in our country on weather conditions.
Total electricity consumption in 2025 reached 8345 GWh, an increase of 175 GWh compared to the previous year. Electricity consumption is realized by consumers supplied in the regulated market and consumers supplied in the liberalized market.
