6 million euros distributed to children under 18 - Around 40 thousand taxpayers receive DIVA money, taxes continue to be reimbursed

Around 40,000 employees across the country who applied for reimbursement through the Individual Annual Income Declaration, DIVA 2025, have been fully reimbursed for their credit balance.
The tax administration announces that by the end of July, it had deposited money into the bank accounts of 39,965 taxpayers who had a credit surplus and applied for benefits.
The total value of overpaid tax that has been reimbursed to these individuals is 597.8 million lek or about 6 million euros.
According to data from the Ministry of Finance, a total of 164,263 declarations have been submitted, or 25% more than in 2025, and there are 77,077 beneficiaries of the scheme for children under 18. 1.4 billion lek or about 15 million euros is the total amount generated by the system for reimbursement for individuals with credit excess.
Taxpayers do not have a set deadline for making a claim and receiving a refund, and the credit balance does not burn and can be withdrawn over two years or more.
But who benefits from DIVA2025 reimbursement? Employed individuals with income of 1.2 million lekë and above this threshold will be entitled to benefit from tax deductions for dependent children, if they have submitted their Annual Individual Income Tax Return, DIVA 2025 and have applied for reimbursement through e-filing.
Meanwhile, employees with incomes below 1.2 million lek per year who, although not legally obligated, have voluntarily completed DIVA, have the right, in addition to dependent children, to benefit from tax deductions for educational expenses.
Educational expenses that have a fiscalized invoice are the only legal document for recognizing expenses. Supporting documents may be contracts from the relevant institutions.
This mechanism is a fiscal facility that comes for the first time through the DIVA 2025 declaration, creating real opportunities to benefit from correct income declaration, helping citizens and serving a more efficient tax administration that is closer to them.
