Solar plant at Zadeja dam - KESH seeks license for 8.25 MW photovoltaic park in

The Albanian Electric Power Corporation has applied to the Energy Regulatory Authority for licensing the activity of producing electricity from the photovoltaic plant that is being built on the Zadeja dam, at the Vau i Dejës hydroelectric power plant.

The plant will have an installed capacity of 8.25 MW, while the licensing is a step towards putting the photovoltaic park into operation, as the production license is one of the necessary procedures before the start of the plant's activity.

The project for the construction of the photovoltaic plant at the Zadeja dam was tendered by KESH in 2023, with a limit fund of 837.1 million lek. The contract was conceived in four phases, including the drafting of the feasibility study, the design and securing of all necessary permits, the construction of the plant, testing and commissioning, as well as maintenance for a period of 2 years.

The Zadeja plant will be the second photovoltaic plant developed by KESH on its hydropower infrastructure, after the 5.14 MW solar park at the Qyrsaq dam. According to KESH, the investment aims to diversify the portfolio of electricity production from renewable sources and increase the use of the existing Drini Cascade infrastructure.
