Intelligent system at the Didactic Farm in Korça - ADF opens tender, investment for safer and more efficient production
The Albanian Development Fund has announced the procurement procedure for the implementation of the third phase of the "Apple Knowledge and Agrotourism Farm" project in Korça, an investment that aims to establish a modern intelligent agriculture system. The fund limit of this procedure is 16 million and 999 thousand lekë.
According to documents published by the Public Procurement Agency, the investment is part of the program to support integrated rural development poles, in partnership with local self-government units.
The project will be implemented at the Didactic and Agrotourism Apple Farm in Korça, which extends over an area of approximately 24.75 hectares, divided into four cultivation areas and with approximately 69 thousand apple trees.
At the heart of the investment is the establishment of an integrated smart agriculture system, which will monitor climate conditions and soil conditions in real time, helping farmers and specialists make faster and more accurate crop management decisions.
The system foresees the installation of meteorological stations, soil sensors, insect monitoring equipment and portable laboratories for field analysis. All data will be transmitted to a digital platform, which will generate automatic analysis and alerts for various risks, such as frost, plant diseases or irrigation needs.
The project includes the purchase of generators, which will be used to increase the temperature in vulnerable areas during frosty nights.
The technical documentation emphasizes that all three components function as a single system. Initially, sensors and meteorological stations collect data on temperature, humidity, precipitation, wind and soil parameters. The digital platform analyzes this data and generates automatic alarms, while thermal devices and a logistics vehicle enable immediate intervention in case of danger.
According to the project, the system will be used not only for frost protection, but also for irrigation planning, fertilization management, disease and pest monitoring, as well as for determining the optimal moment for harvesting produce.
With this investment, the Korça Didactic and Agrotourism Apple Farm aims to become a model of smart agriculture in Albania, combining technology, digital monitoring and field interventions to increase productivity, reduce losses from climatic factors and support the sustainable development of the fruit growing sector.
