Governor Gent Sejko, together with the Minister of Finance, Petrit Malaj, participated in a closed-door meeting with finance ministers and central bank governors of Central, Eastern and Southeastern European countries to discuss the outlook and policy challenges for Europe, organized by the IMF's European Department.

Governor Sejko delivered a speech at the meeting, sharing some reflections on current challenges in an environment of high geopolitical uncertainty and increased inflationary pressures.

In his speech, he emphasized three main messages:

First, Albania is in a stronger position thanks to improved macroeconomic sustainability, financial stability, and structural reforms undertaken over the last decade.

Second, despite these achievements, vigilance and careful and timely response to new developments are needed to maintain price stability.

Third, the importance of international coordination was emphasized, appreciating cooperation between institutions and the need to strengthen dialogue and policy coordination in an increasingly interconnected economy.

The Governor also underlined that macroeconomic stability is a long-term investment that requires sustainability and continued commitment.

The meeting took place within the framework of the 2026 Spring Meetings of the IMF and the World Bank in Washington, DC.
