The budget for roads increases - Projects to be financed next year. From Corridor VIII to the Tirana bypass

The budget for road construction and improvement will increase during 2026. According to the draft submitted to the Assembly, 20.22 billion lek has been planned for this budget item, up from 18.53 billion lek this year.
Referring to the list of expenses, the project with the highest financing value is the construction of Corridor 8 with a total of 8.4 billion lekë, for the 13 lots where work is currently being done.
Another important project receiving funding is the Tirana bypass, with almost 2.2 billion lek. Also, for this segment, Lot III has been included as a budget item for the first time, while the start of financing is expected in 2027.
Also, a new budget item is the construction of the Tirana - Elbasan connecting road with Corridor VIII, which aims to ease the traffic that is created near the Bradashesh roundabout, while financing for this project is also expected to begin in 2027.
The budget for the coming year also provides funding for the expansion of the Tirana - Durrës highway, in the 3 lots where work is currently being done, while funding for phases IV and V, which were included as items for the first time last year, is expected to begin in 2027. In total, 1.93 billion lek are planned for this project for 2026. Also, the budget for the coming year provides funding for the reconstruction of the Kombinat - Ndroq - Plepa road, not only for lot I, but this year lots II and III have also been budgeted. These 2 segments are the only ones for which new funding begins, as all other projects are continuations from previous years.
One of the projects that receives budget is the rehabilitation of the Fier - Patosi Turn - Frataj road, with 1.2 billion lek, as well as the construction of phase I of the Saranda bypass, with a fund of 720 million lek made available.
In parallel, financing for public-private partnership contracts will continue, with a total value of around 5.3 billion lekë. The money will go towards the concession of the Arbri road, the Milot-Morinë highway, the construction of the Orikum-Dukat road, as well as their engineering services, including the PPPs for the construction of the Thumanë-Kashar and Lekaj-Fier axes.
