12-month bonds “rebound” - Weighted average yield reached 2.78% in

The interest rate on 12-month treasury bills has recorded another increase. In the last auction, the weighted average yield reached 2.78%. Interest for this debt instrument has been very high, where in the auction the number of requests was 16 for a total of 8.973 billion lek. However, in the end, only 14 requests were accepted for the amount of 8.673 billion lek.

It seems that 12-month bonds have started their recovery, after a long period where the weighted average yield fell below the Bank of Albania's base interest rate. Thus, the weighted average yield reached its lowest point in the auction held on March 25 of this year, reaching 2.7%.

To invest in treasury bills and bonds, citizens can participate directly in the Bank of Albania's auctions or invest indirectly through investment funds, pension funds and other institutions authorized to invest in these instruments.

During 2025, total issuance is expected to be around 356.40 billion lekë and the instrument with the most frequent and highest issuance is expected to be the 12-month treasury bill.

At the beginning of this year, Albania entered the capital markets for the 7th time, successfully issuing a 10-year Eurobond worth 650 million euros, with a coupon of 4.75% and an interest rate (yield) of 5%.
