"The resort in Sazan is being designed", a $1.4 billion investment - Jared Kushner: We are attracting some of the biggest brands in the world
The project to turn the island of Sazan into a tourist destination by Jared Kushner, son-in-law of US President Donald Trump, is expected to take shape. In his online speech at the international economic forum titled “Future Investment Initiative Europe”, which was held on May 17 in Tirana, Kushner spoke about the $1.4 billion tourist resort.
"The only one I know for sure is myself, my wife and my family. So we're designing this place to be a place where we would want to spend the summer. And every time I tell our friends, they say, 'We want a place nearby, too.' We're attracting some of the most recognizable brands in the world who want to be a part of this. And I think it's going to be extraordinary. So we're designing it to be a place where we ourselves would want to spend the summer, and if we do it well, I believe that many other families will want to have a home there or visit it often," said Kushner.
When asked, Kushner also explained how the idea of taking such an initiative to invest in the tourism sector in Albania came about.
“When I was in real estate, I was always drawn to markets that were undervalued but had all the right elements. In New York, I was in SoHo before it became very popular. In Brooklyn before it became trendy. And in Jersey City before it became interesting. All of these had the same thing as Albania – the right foundation, but people didn’t understand it yet. I felt like we were ten years ahead of the curve. Also, the size, the scale of the opportunity, and the government element that helps development. We’ve had a lot of success in Europe. We haven’t done a lot, but we invested in a company in Germany that has now doubled in value.”
In other words, during his speech, Kushner showed that what makes the area where the resort will be built special is precisely nature. And for this reason, he says that they have engaged the best engineers in Europe for the appropriate programs for environmental preservation.
