Edi Rama: Justice reform cannot be reversed, Albania has no plan B other than EU integration

Prime Minister Edi Rama has reacted on the X platform regarding the statements of the embassies of the United Kingdom and Germany, made following the Parliament's decision to reject the request for the deprivation of liberty of a female MP.
Rama expressed agreement with the principles highlighted in the statements of the two embassies, but underlined that the governing majority has a clear strategic direction: Albania's integration into the European Union by 2030.
"This governing majority has a divided mind and an unwavering compass: Albania 2030 in the European Union," Rama writes.
He emphasized that the justice reform is irreversible and that the independence of the judiciary will not be affected, guaranteeing full support for SPAK.
In his reaction, the Prime Minister also focused on the case of former Deputy Prime Minister and former Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Belinda Balluku, for whom he said that she is not accused of corruption and that the investigation should continue without pressure or interference from factors outside the independent judicial power.
Rama also argued that the Assembly's decision was in line with the standards of democratic European parliaments, where the review of the prosecution's requests is a serious process based on constitutional and legal norms.
"Today we have fully respected those norms ," Rama said, adding that the boundaries between constitutional powers must be preserved.
At the end of his reaction, the prime minister emphasized that the country's path towards European integration remains unchanged: " We move forward, Albania has no plan B."
