New pensions, calculation changes - ISSH approves indexation coefficients, 40 thousand citizens benefit
Around 40,000 citizens who will apply for new pensions from January 1, 2026, will have monthly income calculated with indexed coefficients.
The Administrative Council of the Social Security Institute approved the draft decision on the indexation coefficient of the estimated base for 2024, which is used for calculating pensions.
The meeting was held under the leadership of the chairwoman, Delina Ibrahimaj, and aims to improve the pension system by harmonizing the initial monthly amount with the contributions that individuals have made during their working years.
This decision, which will also be sent for approval to the Council of Ministers, will directly affect the increase in the estimated base for about 40 thousand citizens reaching retirement age.
Indexation will ensure that new pensions are in line with declared salaries and contributions paid, bringing a fair and transparent increase for beneficiaries.
This decision is expected to have an impact on increasing the purchasing power of new pensioners. Indexation, as a legal obligation, is part of the state's ongoing efforts to improve the social security system and ensure that every citizen benefits in accordance with their contributions.
The Social Security Institute also underlines that it remains committed to fulfilling all legal obligations, as well as to continuously improving services to citizens, focusing on the smooth running of the application and pension linking process.
