Rama: Protesters are not ungrateful, they are the new measure of our standards

Prime Minister Edi Rama, also the leader of the Socialist Party, declared today that those who protested on the Boulevard during the month of June are not ungrateful, but are the new measure of our standards.
At the meeting of the parliamentary group and the government cabinet, Rama focused on the protest held during June against the investment in Zvërnec.
Rama emphasized that during the month of June, the boulevard was filled with people from all walks of life, from all social categories, ages, and a rare, beautiful and fragile bird became a symbol of the greatest global attention that Albania has ever experienced within 1 month.
"I have brought with me two documents that embody my reflection in front of the mirror of the Flamingo Boulevard and are open to be read, analyzed and changed to best fulfill their purpose: the strategic document on the turn that the fourth mandate should guarantee in the governing process and the second is an annex on how the Socialist Party should support the turn of the 4th mandate," said Rama.
The Prime Minister brought to attention the episode of a mayor, who was outraged by the protest of a group of citizens.
"It happened on one of the days in June that a mayor, a friend of ours, a man who is at the forefront of his work and the community, came to me very irritated with a group of citizens who had come out to protest a problem in their neighborhood on the outskirts of that municipality. 'I found them in the mud, they had no roads, sidewalks, there was no question of lighting. I made them roads, sidewalks, lights, trees, I made a garden and even put benches, but they are ungrateful,'" Rama brought to attention the conversation.
But, according to the Prime Minister, "precisely this word, ungrateful, is the starting point of the new perspective we need, because in its content lies the most erroneous understanding of the new phase Albania has entered."
"That's why I want to say to those who took to the boulevard during June and to those who have protested silently, without a voice, alone or with others everywhere in Albania or abroad, not only during June but since the elections of last June: You are not ungrateful, you are the new measure of our standards. You who filled the boulevard did not protest against the Albania that we built during the first 3 terms. Even those who were in state work during the day and went to protest in the evening did not go to the boulevard of flamingos to attack the government or to join the song 'Rama, resign'", said Rama.
