Rama: Negotiations with the EU, a historic process that transforms the Albanian state

Prime Minister Edi Rama assessed today that the negotiation process with the European Union substantially increases the country's institutional capacities.
In an information meeting on the progress of negotiations with the European Union, Rama assessed that "Albania is moving forward without stopping, with concrete and confident steps to fulfill reforms that bring us closer to European standards."
The Prime Minister emphasized that it is very important that public opinion also has an idea of the full complexity of this great national effort.
"What is being talked about in public is very, very reduced, or very basic or completely unrelated to this process. Of course, the process has a lot of burden and the entire negotiation team is to be congratulated," said Rama, while bringing to attention the meetings held by the ministers in Brussels.
According to the head of government, "the process has an extraordinary benefit and is irreplaceable."
"Often the general tendency is to view EU membership in a very superficial way and not to understand that this process is actually historic because it transforms the Albanian state and gives state institutions a power and capacity that they have never had in our history," Rama said.
The increase in institutional capacities, according to him, also brings about the strengthening of the legal order in all aspects, not simply in the independent exercise of the judiciary but in the aspect of the exercise of power by each institution in the function of implementing the law and guaranteeing the rights of citizens.
