State Police takes stock/ In January, 121 operations finalized, 715 citizens arrested!
The State Police has taken stock of police operations and citizens arrested for various criminal offenses during the month of January.
In an official announcement, the State Police announces that intensive investigative and operational work, in cooperation with law enforcement agencies at home and abroad, as well as with counterparts, to crack down on crime in general, organized crime in particular, and to unravel criminal events, has resulted in the finalization of 121 police operations during January 2025, while 19 international operations have been conducted, which enabled the extradition of highly sought-after citizens, the crackdown on criminal groups/organizations, and the capture of citizens accused/convicted of crimes against the person and/or economic crimes.
According to the Police, 715 citizens have been arrested for various criminal offenses, 35 firearms, 100 kg of Cannabis, 3.8 kg of Cocaine, quantities of Heroin, Cannabis seeds, 5 grenades and combat ammunition have been seized, and assistance has been provided to 19 citizens who found themselves in difficulty in Mount Tomor, Ersekë and Karaburun.
" As a result of the immediate response of the Police services and close cooperation with citizens, the escalation of 7 conflicts with weapons or sharp objects was prevented, in Durrës, Lezhë, Dibër, Tirana, Elbasan, Mirditë and Shkodër. As a result of the increase in the preventive force, 17 cases of illegal possession of weapons were dealt with. The strikes prevented criminal events that could have been committed by citizens who were caught in the act, with firearms," the announcement states.
The State Police emphasizes the fact that in-depth and professional investigations uncovered 11 criminal events that include: murder, gunshot wounds, conflicts with hard objects, destruction of property with explosives and deliberate arson.
"Also, during this month, 17 police operations were finalized, with the objective of preventing thefts and uncovering those committed previously. Some of these criminal events were committed using violence and weapons. 13 cases of smuggling were cracked down on. In 2 cases, the Police cracked down on the smuggling of 1,070,000 tons of oil from Tunisia at the port of Durrës. Furthermore, 20 police operations were finalized to crack down on the illegal organization of gambling, in bars, with mobile phones or with machines," the announcement reads.
Specialized structures for investigating cybercrimes contributed to solving the murder committed in the village of Dragoç, Shkodra; they prevented a fraud campaign through several disguised electronic messages and brought to justice citizens who made threats on social networks or carried out transactions by misusing the credentials of others.
In Tirana and Elbasan, the structures for the Investigation of Economic and Financial Crimes discovered 3 call centers, through which foreign citizens were deceived into investing in fictitious stock exchanges. Large sums of money (in several currencies) were seized from 2 citizens in Pogradec, on charges of money laundering. Also, controls at all BCPs in the country hit 6 cases of attempts to move money illegally.
The State Police announces that the Traffic Police and intelligent vehicles have been present during this month, on all axes of the country, with the aim of preventing road accidents. Also, intensive work has been carried out to manage the flow of traffic at the beginning of the year, as well as to assist citizens who found themselves in various traffic needs, as a result of the weather with heavy rain and/or snow.
As a result of preventive work and continuous monitoring, 169 drivers have been arrested, of which 137 for driving while intoxicated and 32 for driving without a license, 202 driving licenses have been suspended, of which 16 for exceeding speed limits, 15 for driving under the influence of alcoholic beverages and 171 for other violations of the Highway Code, for which this administrative measure is provided.
"During this month, the Border Police has also had an increased commitment to providing quality, fast and ethical service for the flow of citizens entering/exiting, as well as to guarantee the safe circulation of goods," the announcement states.
To achieve these goals, the Border Police services have cracked down on 68 cases of illegal border crossing; 16 cases of using false documents to cross the border and 6 cases of trafficking. The State Police remains determined to continue operations and police actions, with the aim of bringing to justice citizens who pose a risk to public security.
In this context, the State Police invites citizens to continue to cooperate closely with the Police, as only in this way can major missions be fulfilled, guaranteeing public order and implementing citizens' rights.
