Suspension of Deputy Prime Minister Balluku, Rama: The Constitutional Court did

The ruling majority will continue the battle over what the prime minister called an attempt “to take the government hostage.” In the next episode of his podcast, Rama said that the Constitutional Court failed to reach a decision on the suspension of Deputy Prime Minister Balluku, describing it as “the Constitutional Court’s indecision.”

"The Constitutional Court has not found the strength to prevent the Albanian government from being taken hostage again by an unprecedented and unheard-of means in the democratic world, such as the suspension of a government member by a prosecutor and a judge in a preliminary hearing, that is, before the trial has even begun."

Thus, Albania becomes, for the second time, in two months, the prime example of a global folly because the Constitutional Court drowned in the murky waters of what Cervantes, in his famous book Don Quixote de La Mancha, calls the reasons for the Unreasonable.

But the fact is that the Constitutional Court's indecision reinstates the suspension of the minister, who, to be very clear, despite the fact that clarity is a luxury and a rare luxury that you can seek, but is difficult to find in the turmoil of 700 political and media pots, is not accused of corruption, not even by the prosecutor himself who invented the suspension of the government member with a decision of a closed session in preparation for a trial.

However, the undoing of this 100% "Made in Albania" invention of the new justice and the still immature Albanian justice, which has no connection to the concrete case and issue but to a non-negotiable principle of democracy, remains a necessity to re-guarantee the executive independence of parliament from the judicial branch.

So, we will continue this battle, where the anti-democratic decree of the suspension of a member of the government called us with displeasure and where unfortunately we are still held today by the powerlessness of the Constitutional Court to make such a simple decision - it is a very simple decision that it is enough to take the example of any country in the world you want or all the countries of the world together and you will not be able to find something similar - but an equally necessary decision to not leave Albania the only country on the planet, where today, with this brutality legitimized by this indecision, the President of the Republic himself can be suspended by the first prosecutor who wakes up with this idea in his head.

In the meantime, I have something else.

Anyone who has put their lips on the gas or stuck their tongue out after the Constitutional Court's indecision and is shouting hosannas and rubbing their hands with the new fashion of arrests without trial, which reached a new peak this week with 30 or so arrest warrants issued by a prosecutor in Durrës, who in fact did not only detain himself, but put everything around him for a case that does not meet any condition, zero, none of what the Council of Europe and democratic justice define as necessary conditions for arrest, in a bag, I tell you one thing, whoever believes that the natural effort for the rule of law of all of us together, ours, government, parliament, justice, with all its ups and downs, the achievements and blunders of the new justice, will ever produce costs for this governing majority, which will put the broken mill of the oppositions back to work, is mistaken day and night because they do not understands what the Albanian people, the ordinary people of Albania, understand very clearly. The fight for justice, for a democratic state of law, for a European Albania in the European Union, has only one guarantor, still today, me and this governing majority.

It's that simple!" said Prime Minister Rama.
