Improving energy supply in the Albanian Alps - From Boga to Theth. OSSH opens

The High Voltage Directorate of the Albanian Public Distribution System (OSSH) has announced the opening of the competition for the construction of the new 35 kilovolt Bogë-Theth electric line. The limit fund for this investment is 449 million and 681 thousand lekë.

The project aims to build a new medium voltage line that will start from the new 35/6 kV substation in Bogë and end in Theth.

The new line will be approximately 17.5 kilometers long and will be built with a 35 kV circuit, while the metal poles will be according to the 110 kV standard, creating opportunities for further network developments.

According to the technical documentation, part of the line will be built underground in the Thorës Pass segment, due to the difficult rocky terrain, while the rest will be built with metal poles and an overhead line. This investment aims to significantly increase the electricity supply capacity in one of the most important tourist areas of the country. Currently, Thethi is supplied through a 6 kV line, which no longer meets the growing demand for energy.

The construction of the new 35 kV line will guarantee a more stable supply, reduce technical losses and improve the quality of service for residents and businesses in the area.

The document notes that the investment will also reduce power outages. The SAIFI indicator, which measures the average outages per customer, is expected to decrease from 18.97 to just 1.8 outages, while the SAIDI indicator, which measures the duration of outages, will be reduced from 85.22 hours to 8.5 hours after the investment is completed.

The benefits will not only be limited to improving the electricity supply, but will also create better conditions for the economic and tourist development of Theth and the surrounding areas. The investment is considered an important support for tourism businesses, accommodation structures and new investments that have been increasing in recent years in the Albanian Alps.

Due to the mountainous terrain and the fact that the line passes through an area of high natural value, the project foresees measures for environmental protection. The route is designed to avoid forested areas as much as possible and tree felling will be carried out only when necessary.
