In which country does an iPhone cost the most? Albania is among the cheapest markets in Europe

One of the most sought-after devices in the world, the iPhone, continues to be sold at very different prices from one country to another. According to Visual Capitalist, based on Deutsche Bank data and Apple's official prices, the differences are mainly influenced by taxes, customs duties and fiscal policies of each country.
In Albania, the average price of an iPhone 17 Pro 256 GB ranges around $1,200, placing the country close to the level of the United States, where the same model costs around $1,181.
At the top of the list is Turkey, where the phone costs $2,592, or 119% more than in the US. Turkey is the clearest exception. In addition to the 20% VAT, smartphones are subject to special consumption taxes and registration fees that significantly increase their retail prices. It is followed by Brazil at $2,260 and Egypt at $1,872. In Turkey, the price increase is mainly related to high tariffs and taxes on imported phones.
In Europe, the countries with the highest prices are Hungary, Norway, Sweden, Poland, the Czech Republic and Finland, where an iPhone costs between $1,580 and $1,830. At the other end of the scale, Japan offers the lowest price, at around $1,121, while South Korea and the US follow at around $1,181. Japan is one of the few markets where Apple's flagship iPhone costs less than in the United States.
A relatively low 10% consumption tax, a highly competitive smartphone market, and Apple's long-standing pricing strategy have helped keep prices relatively low. However, Apple has recently raised prices for some products in Japan after years of a weakening yen and fluctuating exchange rates.
Global price rankings can change quickly. As currencies fluctuate and governments adjust taxes and import policies, today's cheapest market may not hold that position for long.
The report shows that, although Albania is not included in the official ranking by Visual Capitalist, the average price of around $1,200 places the country very close to the American market and significantly lower than most European Union countries.
