July, a "boom" of tourist movements - Over 2 million passengers by sea and air

July, the month that traditionally marks the peak of the tourist season, has been accompanied by a flurry of traffic at Rinas International Airport and the country's main ports. Over 2.05 million passengers passed through these air and sea ports alone during the month of July.
According to official data, the "Mother Teresa" International Airport registered over 1.8 million passengers during the month of July, while the number of flights reached around 9,500. The figures show the high pace of air traffic during the summer holiday period.
Considerable traffic has also been recorded at seaports. Around 111,000 passengers and over 40,000 vehicles have passed through the Port of Durres, the country's largest maritime hub, reflecting the numerous ferry movements.
Meanwhile, the Port of Saranda, which during the summer serves as one of the main entry points for tourists visiting the south of the country, has registered around 131 thousand passengers and 250 vehicles. The Port of Vlora has also seen an increase in movements, with around 17 thousand passengers and around 5 thousand vehicles during the month of July.
The figures confirm the intensification of air and sea movements during the summer season, however, the full picture of tourist flows remains incomplete, as these data do not include movements at land border points, from where a significant portion of visitors enter each year, especially from Kosovo, North Macedonia, Montenegro and Greece. For this reason, the real number of entries and exits during July is expected to be even higher than that reflected in the data for air and sea transport.
