Construction of Corridor VIII - Expropriations for 13 properties in Lot III of the Elbasan-Qafë Thanë segment are about to begin
The construction of Corridor VIII is advancing with the expropriations of the owners affected by this project. The State Agency for Expropriation has announced the request for the expropriation, in the public interest, of 13 properties affected by the construction of Lot III, part of the Elbasan - Qafë Thanë segment. This request follows those of 2024, while the total preliminary value of the expropriation is calculated at 14 million lekë. This is a completely new segment with a length of 800 meters, which ends after the new Murrashi bridge, while the expropriation process paves the way for the continuation of the works, connecting with the other segments from Elbasan, towards Qafë Thanë.
Corridor 8 is considered the core infrastructure project in our country, and is currently being worked on in 14 lots.
More specifically, in the direction from Elbasan to Qafë – Thanë, work is being carried out in 8 lots with a length of 26 km, while the progress of each of them is different. Meanwhile, in the direction Elbasan – Lekaj, work is being carried out in 6 other lots, covering about 20 km, out of 40.7 km in total. Even in these segments, the progress of the works is different, but the authorities have stated that the works are being carried out easily due to the flat terrain.
After the completion of the works, this axis will be a category B road, interurban with 2 lanes on each side, while referring to the documents, the allowed speed will be in the range of 90 - 140 km/h.
