Support for the food base of livestock - Minister Salla, in Levan. Field damage assessment begins

Livestock farmers affected by the floods of recent days will be supported by the Ministry of Agriculture for the food base of their livestock, in order to guarantee the continuity of livestock activity.
The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Andis Salla, has been in Levan, Fier, where he is closely following the situation created by the intense rainfall of recent days and the measures taken to protect livestock.
During the visit, Minister Salla was with livestock farmer Bledi Dorda, who breeds around 800 small animals. As a result of the situation created by the rainfall, the herd of cattle was evacuated in time, avoiding damage to the livestock.
On the other hand, Salla emphasized that the structures of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development are on the ground to closely monitor the situation, to identify the damage and to guarantee the necessary support for farmers and livestock keepers affected by the intense rainfall.
The intense rainfall of recent days has caused extensive damage to agriculture, livestock, as well as homes and businesses in various areas of the country. As for the agricultural sector, there is still no information on the extent of the damage caused and whether there will be a compensation fund dedicated to farmers.
Meanwhile, the lack of an insurance scheme in agriculture seems to be bringing serious consequences both for farmers and for the state budget, in cases where compensation support is required.
