Absences in the Supervisory Council, the Bank of Albania postpones monetary policy decision-making

Because the Supervisory Council is incomplete with members, due to the end of the mandate for 6 of them, the Bank of Albania has postponed today to the next meeting all the issues planned for decision-making at the February meeting. A statement from the Bank of Albania states:
"Today, on February 4, 2026, the Governor of the Bank of Albania, Mr. Gent Sejko, in his capacity as Chairman of the Supervisory Council, as well as the members of the Supervisory Council, the Second Deputy Governor, Ms. Natasha Ahmetaj, and Mr. Anastas Angjeli, held an information meeting, where they were introduced to the daily functional and operational activity of the Bank of Albania.
At this meeting, the latest economic and monetary developments were discussed, and information was received on: (i) the administration and activity of the Bank of Albania; (ii) the implementation of monetary policy; (iii) the progress of the banking and financial system; and (iv) the situation of the money and foreign exchange markets.
No decisions were made during the meeting. The issues planned for decision-making at the February meeting will be addressed in future meetings, when the Supervisory Council of the Bank of Albania has the necessary number of members to hold meetings and make the relevant decisions.
