Minister Hasani in Latvia: Partnership with Riga, an investment for the common European future!
The Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs of Albania, Igli Hasani, paid an official visit to Riga, where he was received by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Latvia, Baiba Braže.
The meeting reconfirmed the very good relations between the two countries and the willingness to elevate cooperation to a more structured and strategic level.
"I see great potential to deepen cooperation in key areas such as education, cybersecurity, tourism and cultural exchanges. This visit is an important step towards building a sustainable partnership between Albania and Latvia," said Hasani.
During the meeting, Minister Hasani thanked Latvia for its continued support for Albania in the European integration process, emphasizing that:
“Latvia’s principled stance in Brussels is important not only for Albania, but for the very credibility and strategic cohesion of the European Union. In the current geopolitical conditions, enlargement is not just a transformative process, it is a strategic necessity. The fight against Russian aggression makes it even clearer that the inclusion of the Western Balkan countries is an investment in the peace and stability of Europe. Latvia understands this deeply and we strongly appreciate this commitment.”
Minister Hasani also emphasized the importance of Latvia's experience in supporting Albania with practical knowledge during the accession negotiations:
“We look forward to deepening our bilateral dialogue on reforms and benefiting from Latvia's experience in areas such as digital governance, public administration and sustainable development.”
During the visit to Riga, the Minister also visited the Albanian contingent of the Armed Forces at Camp Ādaži.
"Proud of each of the 22 men and women who serve with professionalism and dedication appreciated by our Latvian partners and representative of Albania's unwavering commitment to NATO and collective defense ," he said.
This year marks 97 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Albania and Latvia, and 33 years since their resumption. Albania remains committed to deepening its partnership with Latvia and contributing to peace and security in Europe and beyond.
