How many campsites does Albania have? We are the cheapest destination in Europe. Croatia, the most expensive

For tourists who prefer to travel by camper, caravan or sleep in a tent, Albania turns out to be the most economical destination in Europe.
An analysis published in April 2026 by Camping.info, one of the largest European platforms specializing in camping tourism, ranks Albania as the cheapest country among the 34 European countries considered.
The platform analyzed the prices of about 20,000 campsites in Europe. The calculation is made for a one-night stay for two people in high season and includes the pitch, caravan, electricity and local tax. In Albania, this package costs an average of only €14.38 per night, the lowest price in the entire ranking.
Albania is followed by Turkey, at €15.04, while in North Macedonia a night of camping costs an average of €18.53. Bosnia and Herzegovina ranks at €19.37 and Romania at €19.63.
The difference becomes even more apparent when Albania is compared to Europe's most expensive destinations. In Croatia, a night of camping costs an average of €41.26, almost three times more than in Albania. Italy follows with €41.21, Switzerland with €40.68 and Austria with €40.56.
Even popular destinations among Albanian tourists are significantly more expensive. In Greece the average price reaches €26.07, in Portugal €26.27, in France €26.75 and in Spain €34.82 per night.
According to Camping.info, camping prices in Europe have increased by an average of 3.49% compared to a year ago. However, Southeastern Europe continues to offer some of the most economical alternatives for this form of vacation.
How many campsites does Albania have?
From Lake Shkodra, to the mountains of Theth and to the southern coast, the offer of campsites in Albania has expanded.
There is no single public figure that determines the total number of campsites operating in the country, while international platforms provide different results depending on the structures they have listed.
PiNCAMP, the platform supported by the German ADAC club, currently lists 78 campsites in Albania.
The Shkodra region has the largest number, with 25 campsites, followed by Vlora with 18 and Berat with 6.
Meanwhile, Camping.info lists 65 campsites in Albania, which indicates that the number varies according to the database and criteria of each platform.
For European tourists traveling by camper, Albania thus combines two elements that are becoming increasingly important, nature and low cost.
