Teachers under new rules - Code of Ethics, sets the boundaries of behavior in schools
With just two days to go before the start of the new school year, the Ministry of Education and Sports has approved the new Code of Ethics for Teachers. This document aims to define the principles and rules of ethical and professional conduct of teachers in pre-university educational institutions.
The purpose of the Code is to guarantee integrity, professionalism, impartiality and accountability in the exercise of teaching and educational duties.
"European best practices emphasize the importance of a clear ethical framework that helps teachers face professional challenges with integrity, especially in an educational reality that is rapidly transformed by technology and social and economic developments," the Code of Ethics states.
Article 5 of this document emphasizes that the teacher must use clear, educational and motivating language in communication with students, while preserving the privacy and dignity of each individual.
The teacher is also expected to play a proactive role in preventing harmful phenomena that may negatively affect the education and well-being of students. He or she must observe, monitor, prevent and intervene immediately in cases of bullying or any form of violence or social exclusion within the school environment, in accordance with the relevant protocols.
Another aspect addressed in the Code is that of teachers' appearance and behavior on social media. The document stipulates that teachers should dress neatly and carefully, while the use of jewelry or other decorative elements should be appropriate for the school environment.
Regarding presence on social networks, it is emphasized that teachers should be careful that the posts, photos or videos they share are in line with professional ethics and their educational role.
