The US government shutdown also affects the US embassy in Tirana!
The US federal government began shutdown proceedings on Wednesday, just hours after the US Senate failed to pass a short-term bill to temporarily fund the government.
This marks the first government shutdown in nearly seven years. The last and longest federal government shutdown occurred from late 2018 to early 2019, during President Trump's first term.
As a result, the US Embassy in Tirana has announced a limitation of the services of this institution for an indefinite period.
“Due to the delay in approving budget funds, this Facebook account will not be updated regularly - with the exception of urgent information on security issues - until regular operations resume. During this time, scheduled passport and transit visa services in the United States and at embassies and consulates abroad will continue as possible. For more information on our services and operational status, visit: travel.state.gov,” the announcement reads.
