Mazniku: The Mountain Package.gov portal, active for applications from tomorrow!
The Minister of State for Local Government, Arbjan Mazniku, announced that, starting tomorrow (July 12), the "Mountain Package.gov" portal will be active, which, in addition to providing information on criteria, documents and fiscal facilities, also enables applications for expressions of interest from citizens and businesses who want to invest in the development of the area's economy.
Present at the meeting held by Prime Minister Edi Rama with the mayors of municipalities, on local performance in function of the "Albania 2030" vision and the unstoppable path towards membership in the European Union, Mazniku said that, " the first step in implementing the Mountain Package is that each municipality must establish a working group with 5 members who must determine the priority development areas in the territory of the municipality."
He explained that, after an in-depth analysis, a development zone is declared by decision of the Council of Ministers, which provides the essential beginning of the specific implementation of the Mountain Package in the territory. He also announced that the instruction has already been issued that determines the criteria and documentation for the identification of priority development zones in the territory of municipalities, within the framework of the Mountain Package.
According to him, the interest in implementing the Mountain Package is great and there are municipalities that have started this process to determine areas with development potential.
"The faster the proposals come from the municipalities, the faster the proposals can be passed to the Council of Ministers and implementation can begin," said Mazniku, while announcing that the government expects an even more diverse tourist offer from the mountains package, in agrotourism or other investments that boost the local economy.
The "Mountain Package", through support with two instruments: legal and financial, aims to encourage investments in rural mountain areas by all those who meet the necessary conditions.
The government has predicted that the first 500 applications will be tax-free. The aim is for some of the emigrants to return to the country to benefit from the initiative.
