The new Parliament legislature opens on September 12, Begaj: Let's face every challenge for Albania in the EU

The first meeting of the 11th Legislature of the Assembly will be held on September 12, 2025, at 10:00, announced the President of the country, Bajram Begaj, who described this as a new page in the institutional life of the Republic of Albania.
Begaj noted that Albania is facing a historic moment on its journey towards membership in the European Union and in fulfilling this major priority, the Assembly has the honor and obligation to be the representative of the vision and aspiration of Albanians for a European Albania.
In his message to the deputies, Begaj emphasized that the new legislature has the responsibility of continuing reforms, linking the legislative function with the country's priorities and challenges, continuously updating legislation, controlling and overseeing governance, respecting constitutional norms, transparency, constructive discussions, cooperation, and making wise decisions in the service of improving the lives of citizens, the interests and future of the country.
"This legislature brings together experienced MPs and young people elected for the first time. Continuity and experience combined with new mindsets, ideas, energy and spirit is a natural part of democratic processes," he added.

According to him, accountability and humility by the majority in the exercise of power must be complemented by an active, constructive opposition committed to its essential role in a democracy.
"Dialogue and respect for differences are the foundation of democratic coexistence," Begaj appealed.
Begaj reminded the deputies that the legislative process and the quality of laws must reflect the real needs of our society, the challenges of development, and the efforts for justice and equal opportunities.
"The major priority of membership in the European Union and the challenges faced by citizens and the country, such as those of security, justice, demography, economy, sustainable development, education, health, agriculture, climate change, environmental protection, technology and artificial intelligence, require attention and sustainable solutions," emphasized the Head of State.
Begaj said that through daily work and decision-making in the Assembly "we must meet every criterion and face every challenge for Albania as a member of the European Union."
"Of major importance for the country's European future is the transition from justice reform to a functional and independent justice system, where no one is above the law and organized crime and corruption are decisively fought," he stressed.
Begaj's messages for the new legislature include the continuation of dignified representation in international relations as well as commitment to supporting Kosovo and Albanians in the region.
"Albanians expect concrete results, improvement of daily life, good governance and development that brings well-being," the president concluded, expressing his willingness to cooperate and support any initiative and institutional dialogue in the service of common challenges.
Message of the President of the Republic, His Excellency Bajram Begaj, on the occasion of the opening of the 11th Legislature of the Assembly of the Republic of Albania
Dear fellow citizens,
Dear MPs,
The first meeting of the 11th Legislature of the Assembly will be held on September 12, 2025, at 10:00 am, opening a new page in the institutional life of the Republic of Albania.
The Assembly is a symbol of democracy, it is the space where you, honorable deputies, will dedicate yourself to the responsibility and commitments you have made, it is the space where the voices of all Albanians must be heard and respected.
Albania is at a historic moment on its journey towards membership in the European Union. In fulfilling this major priority, the Assembly has the honor and obligation to be the representative of the vision and aspiration of Albanians for a European Albania.
Dear MPs,
The new legislature has the responsibility of continuing reforms, linking the legislative function with the country's priorities and challenges, continuously updating legislation, controlling and overseeing governance, respecting constitutional norms, transparency, constructive discussions, cooperation, and making wise decisions in the service of improving the lives of citizens, the interests and future of the country.
This legislature brings together experienced MPs and young people elected for the first time. Continuity and experience combined with new mindsets, ideas, energy and spirit is a natural part of democratic processes.
Responsibility and humility by the majority in the exercise of power must be complemented by an active, constructive opposition committed to its essential role in a democracy. Dialogue and respect for differences are the foundation of democratic coexistence.
Dear MPs,
The legislative process and the quality of laws must reflect the real needs of our society, the challenges of development and the efforts for justice and equal opportunities. Civil society, the media, the academic world, professionals and other stakeholders must be even more involved in this process. They are part of the same effort to build a fairer and more developed Albania.
The major priority of membership in the European Union and the challenges facing citizens and the country, such as those of security, justice, demography, economy, sustainable development, education, health, agriculture, climate change, environmental protection, technology and artificial intelligence, require attention and sustainable solutions.
Membership in the European Union is a transformative and strategically important process, requiring deep reforms and unwavering commitment. Through your daily work and decision-making, we must meet every criterion and face every challenge for Albania as a member of the European Union.
Of major importance for the country's European future is the transition from justice reform to a functional and independent justice system, where no one is above the law and organized crime and corruption are decisively fought.
While we are engaged in this process, Albania must continue its dignified representation in international relations in line with our strategic partners: the EU, the US, and NATO.
Albania will be committed to supporting Kosovo and Albanians in the region and everywhere, a proactive factor for peace, dialogue and positive and comprehensive development. With our role as a bridge-builder of peace in the region, with our unique qualities of religious brotherhood, we can offer constructive expertise, innovative initiatives and an inspiring example.
Dear MPs,
Each of you has received a precious trust from the citizens. This is the time to turn that trust into action. Albanians expect concrete results, improvements in daily life, good governance, and development that brings prosperity.
I always remain ready to cooperate and support any initiative and institutional dialogue in the service of common challenges.
Good luck to the deputies and the new legislature of the Assembly, with Albania in mind and heart!
