Installment settlement of energy debts - Agreements/OSHEE: 850 citizens and 1,000 businesses have benefited since July

Around 850 citizens and 1,000 businesses have benefited from the relief schemes for the settlement of arrears of electricity, according to data from the Electricity Distribution Operator. The implementation of the new agreements for the settlement of unpaid obligations in installments began on July 21 and all those household subscribers and businesses are beneficiaries, for obligations incurred until December 31, 2023.
The condition is that these clients must have closed the obligations created during 2024 and onwards, while each category of beneficiaries has different reliefs, which escalate depending on the client category and the amount of debt carried by each of them. More specifically, family clients treated with economic assistance and pensioners can pay their arrears with fixed monthly installments of 1,200 lek, while other family clients can pay their arrears with fixed monthly installments of 2,800 lek.
Meanwhile, businesses can pay their overdue debts in installments determined based on the value of the debt, up to 120 installments.
In parallel, OSHEE Group also approved the scheme for reducing late payment interest against full liquidation of the overdue debt by December 31, 2023. Thus, family customers benefit from a 70% reduction in late payment interest, in case of repayment of the entire obligation at once. While non-family customers benefit from a 100% reduction in late payment interest, in case of repayment of the entire obligation at once.
Data from the Energy Regulatory Authority shows that, by December 31, 2023, household customers' debts to OSHEE amounted to 45.40 billion lek, while private customers had collected 11.69 billion lek in unpaid liabilities.
