"Economic diplomacy will be a priority" - Rama: Albania closer than

At the three-day conference of Albanian ambassadors around the world, Prime Minister Edi Rama emphasized that the diplomatic service of the Republic of Albania should focus on the objective of the country's membership in the European Union. He also mentioned the organization of the NATO summit in 2027.

"I want to emphasize the organization of the NATO summit in Albania in 2027. Less than 2 years from today and I want to thank the ambassador and our team at NATO. We must meet all expectations from Albania and exceed them by using it as a moment where Albania will shine globally."

On the other hand, Prime Minister Edi Rama declared that economic diplomacy will be a priority.

"A key element that remains the weakest link in the work of the Diplomatic Service is economic diplomacy, where the role of our representations is weak and where, except for specific cases related to the nature and will of an ambassador, the contribution is non-existent. A conference dedicated to diplomatic representations in the function of economic diplomacy was held, but the results leave much to be desired. This aspect should be a priority for embassies."

Meanwhile, the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Igli Hasani, during his speech, stated that EU membership is a strategic compass.

Among other things, Minister Hasani stated that the growth of Albania's role on the international stage has been accompanied by the expansion of the diplomatic network, while in just one year, 7 new diplomatic representations have been opened.
