The new school year begins for 345 thousand students - Minister Manastirliu: 26,500 sit in the classroom for the first time
The new academic year 2025-2026 begins in all schools across the country for 345,000 primary and secondary school students. While 26,500 of them are sitting at their desks for the first time.
The Minister of Education and Sports, Ogerta Manastiliu, through a video message published on social networks, congratulated all students, teachers and parents on the start of the new school year.
"Dear students, teachers and parents. Today is a special day, a day that repeats itself every year, but that brings new emotions. It is the first day of school, a day that reminds us that education is the beginning of a beautiful path, of every beautiful dream that we realize.
This new school year brings important news. 30 new and rehabilitated schools welcome children who return to their classrooms with the best standards. We have continued the work, we have done our best to reorganize and make the return to school as pleasant as possible for you.”
340 security officers will be deployed in schools, working according to updated protocols and standards. 930 psychologists and social workers will be available to students to address any social or emotional needs they may have. Likewise, 2,260 teaching assistants will support these students with special needs, according to personalized plans to support them in school.
