Tourism turnover reached 929 million euros - Accommodation and food, high growth in 7 months
Sectors of the economy related to tourism have performed positively this year.
Data for the first seven months of 2025, compared to the same period a year ago, indicate an increase in turnover in sectors such as accommodation, bars-restaurants or other services in the function of tourism.
In total, businesses related to the tourism sector, up to July, have had a turnover of approximately 929.2 million euros, or 109.9 million euros more than January-July 2024.
Specifically, during the January-July period, the turnover declared by the restaurant and food services sector was recorded at 456.7 million euros. Compared to the previous year, this represents an increase of 50.3 million euros.
On the other hand, hotels and accommodation structures such as guesthouses or daily rentals reported a turnover of 331.5 million euros, recording an increase of 43.1 million euros compared to the first 7 months of 2024.
Other tourism businesses had a turnover of 136.5 million euros in January-July 2025, an increase of 16.5 million euros compared to the previous year.
This year has been accompanied by a significant increase in consumption by Albanian citizens but also by foreign tourists visiting our country. This is also indicated by the revenues collected from the Value Added Tax by the tax administration, which shows the circulation of products and services within the country through fiscal invoices and the 20% paid by consumers.
During the January-July period, taxes collected from domestic VAT amounted to approximately 39.2 billion lek, or 392 million euros.
Compared to the same period a year ago, where 327 million euros were collected from this item, there is an increase of 65 million euros, which for the Albanian economy is not small.
The total number of arrivals of Albanian and foreign citizens for the first 7 months of the year is recorded at 11.2 million.
