Fuels, Rama: Transparency Board does not allow operators to play at the expense

"The Transparency Board does not set the price of oil arbitrarily, it does not lower the price of oil by putting the supply capacities themselves at risk, but simply and only supervises the movement of the price and does not allow operators to play behind the backs of consumers." This was the essence of the message that Prime Minister Edi Rama conveyed this Sunday to citizens, through his podcast Flasim.

"The Transparency Board has been put into motion to reflect the impact of the war against the criminal regime of Tehran on prices in the oil market, avoiding abuses of this impact to the detriment of consumers. According to data from the Mediterranean Stock Exchange, in recent days there has been a decrease in the prices of the main oil by-products and, in line with this development, the Transparency Board immediately reflected the decrease in the price in the country, doing what it is duty to do: setting ceiling prices and preventing abuse of the situation to the detriment of consumers.

What is important to understand is that this mechanism directly links prices in Albania to movements in international markets and not to unilateral decisions of domestic operators.
This means that, depending on the movement of the price on the stock exchange, the board continuously stands on the side of consumers, drivers, and citizens and maintains clear boundaries between the objectively increased price as a result of the movement in the international market, from where oil is imported to Albania, and, on the other hand, the abusiveness that, in these cases, if it finds a place, always makes a place.

I emphasize once again, the Board does not set the price of oil arbitrarily, it does not lower the price of oil by putting its own supply capacities at risk, but simply supervises price movements and does not allow operators to play behind the backs of consumers.

Its role is to ensure transparency and, on the other hand, to always be vigilant to prevent violations of its decisions, which are then accompanied by immediate measures up to and including suspension of activity for operators who do not respect the rules.

"So far, it seems that everything is working as it should, but we will do our best so that, until the end of this situation that does not depend on us at all, everything is transparent and nothing excessive harms consumers," said the Prime Minister.
