Investments for the wastewater network - 1 billion lek tender opens for Dibra, treatment plant included

With a limited fund of around 1 billion lek, the Dibër Regional Water Supply and Sewage Company has opened the tender for the construction of a wastewater sewerage network and treatment plant for the city of Peshkopia.
The project aims to build a wastewater sewerage network for the city of Peshkopia, as well as establish a wastewater treatment plant.
According to the documents accompanying the tender procedure, Peshkopia currently has a sewage system that covers only some urbanized areas, while the rest of the city and the suburbs do not have full coverage. More specifically, it is explained that the existing network is in a depreciated state, with sewage leaks and a lack of secure connections.
This intervention takes on particular importance, considering the data of the Water Regulatory Authority that show that the coverage of the sewage service at the national level still remains limited. In 2024, only 56.2% of the population had access to the sewage network, up from 54.8% the year before, which shows a slight improvement, but still far from full coverage. This means that a significant part of the territory continues to lack a complete infrastructure for the management of wastewater.
Likewise, the number of wastewater treatment plants is extremely limited and far from the country's needs for these infrastructures.
