400 jobs from the new shipyard in Pashaliman - Delays in the production of drones and armored vehicles, due to the supply chain

Around 400 new jobs will be created by the project between the state-owned company "Kayo" and the Italian company "Fincantieri", for the establishment of a new shipyard in Pashaliman for the production of floating vehicles. This was stated by the Minister of Defense Ermal Nufi during a press conference, who emphasized, among other things, that the project foresees the development of technological capacities in the country.
"This partnership paves the way for the production of naval vessels in Albania, both for national needs and for international markets. The project envisages: the creation of a new shipyard in Pashaliman; the employment of around 400 citizens; the development of technological and professional skills of young people and the return of Albania to an important European base for the construction of small and medium-sized ships. This is an investment of strategic importance, not only for defense, but also for the economic and industrial development of the country", underlined the Minister of Defense.
The first prototype of the armored vehicle was expected to be ready in May, while that of the combat drone in April, but due to the disruption of supply chains caused by the conflict in the Middle East, the deadlines have been extended.

"Based on the program, everything is going very well, except for the fact that it is related to the conflict in the Middle East where for almost 2 months, the situation there has been not very stable and in certain cases even the airspace has been blocked. This has brought us delays in terms of supply chains and other elements, but one thing is certain and I guarantee you that by summer we will have the entire complex fully functioning", said the administrator of the state-owned arms production company "Kayo", Ardi Veliu.
Regarding the sending of Albanian military troops to the International Stabilization Force in Gaza within the framework of the Peace Board, the Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Arben Kingji, stated that the number of troops that will be deployed has not yet been determined.
