Investment in natural tourism - ADF, tender for infrastructure improvement in Karavasta
The Albanian Development Fund has announced the opening of the tender for infrastructural interventions aimed at improving tourist access and the sustainable development of natural tourism in the Karavasta Lagoon. The project, which has a fund limit of 85 million and 192 thousand lekë, foresees numerous interventions to create conditions for visitors.
Referring to the document, the protection of the eastern embankment of the Karavasta Lagoon from erosion, phase III, will be constructed and systematized. The embankment will also be protected from erosion caused by wave and tidal action, as well as from erosion caused by torrential rain.
The intervention plan foresees pedestrian paths, bicycle paths; the creation of resorts, as well as dedicated tourist spots. The document further emphasizes that 8 wooden bridges and 3 observation and resting points on the embankment will be built on this embankment.
The Karavasta Lagoon was declared an emerald area under the Bern Convention in 2008.
Divjakë-Karavasta National Park has become a birdwatching tourism destination in recent years, and beyond, as it ranks among the lagoons of great importance as an important area for migratory species and as a habitat for over 20,000 wintering birds.
This investment is expected to increase the tourist potential of the area.
