Ibrahimaj: Albania has strengthened support for SMEs and ranks among the leading economies in the region

Albania continues to consolidate support policies for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), marking significant progress in improving the business climate and developing entrepreneurship.
This is what the Minister of Economy and Innovation, Delina Ibrahimaj, said in a post on her social networks, referring to the latest OECD report, "SME Policy Index 2025", made public today.
According to this report, Albania has registered positive improvement in 5 out of 12 dimensions of the assessment and has maintained performance in 5 other dimensions, ranking among the leading economies in the Western Balkans and Turkey, for creating a favorable environment for the development of SMEs.
The report mainly assesses significant progress, especially in:
entrepreneurial education and support for women's entrepreneurship;
green transition and support for SMEs towards a sustainable economy.
Also in this report, our country is evaluated for its business-friendly operational environment and support for standards and technical regulations.
This assessment confirms the commitment of Albanian institutions to further strengthen the entrepreneurial ecosystem, prioritizing innovation, quality and sustainability as the main pillars of the country's economic development.
