Hotels on the coast, ready for tourists - Importing 140 tons of umbrellas in a month. Businesses rush to catch the season
Not only for the timely provision of labor, but also for infrastructural preparation, resorts, hotels and beach stations along the country's coastline have been put into motion to complete and, why not, increase the number of sun umbrellas placed on the sand.
According to official data from the Institute of Statistics, 140 tons of sun umbrellas were imported last month, the highest amount ever recorded on a monthly basis. For this month alone, 44 tons more umbrellas were imported than in the entire first quarter of last year.
Translated into value, this represents around 41 million lek in spending by Albanian businesses operating in the tourism sector on the purchase of new tents. This amount is around 15 million lek higher than that recorded in the same period a year ago.
In total, during the first 3 months of this year, 190 tons or 55 million lek of tents entered the country.
The manufacturers from which the tents were imported were mainly from China, which accounts for 36% of the total, or 51 tons. It is followed by Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, which also contributed significant quantities.
Although over the past months Italy and the two other countries in the region mentioned above have been Albania's main suppliers of sunshades, the geographical map of supply has now extended to the Far East.
