Global Privacy Summit/ Commissioner Dervishi holds meetings with senior US officials
The Commissioner for the Right to Information and Personal Data Protection, Besnik Dervishi, participated in the 25th Edition of the Annual Global Privacy Summit, organized by the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP), in Washington, DC.
In the framework of the Data Protection Authorities Day, this summit discussed the challenges of personal data protection, in light of international cooperation, the independence of supervisory authorities, the perspectives of civil society, etc.
Part of the agenda of this summit were also meetings of the Commissioners for the Protection of Personal Data with senior officials of institutions of the United States of America.
At the US Department of Justice, Dervishi met with the Director of Privacy and Civil Liberties, Peter A. Winn, and Ambassador Sting Lang, International Coordinator for Communication and Information Policy, with whom he discussed the new law on the protection of personal data in Albania and the challenges of implementing this law.
Dervishi also held a meeting with the head of the Federal Trade Commission, Andrew Ferguson, with whom he discussed data protection and in particular the implementation of the EU-US data protection framework, according to European Commission Decision 2023/1795, dated July 10, 2023.
The Global Privacy Summit is an event attended by professionals in the field such as leading policymakers, technologists, authors, and entrepreneurs from around the world, who discuss and seek solutions to strategic issues and daily challenges in privacy, artificial intelligence governance, and digital responsibility.
