ERE, obligations for energy producers/ Report the insurance of assets and employees by January 31

The Energy Regulatory Authority has adopted a new decision that strengthens the obligations of licensed entities in the production of electricity, establishing a unified deadline for reporting information on the insurance of assets and the life and health of employees.
The decision stipulates that all licensed electricity producers will have to report to the ERE, by January 31 of each year, information related to the fulfillment of obligations for insurance, according to the terms of the license and contracts for the construction, use and administration of generating plants.
According to the reasoning of the decision, the obligation to insure assets and employees is provided for both in the law “On the electricity sector” and in the standard license for the production of electricity, which requires that the insurance be carried out no later than 30 days from the issuance of the license. This obligation is also reflected in the contracts concluded between the production entities and the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy, in the capacity of the contracting authority.
ERE assesses that, until now, the reporting practice has been ununified, which has created difficulties in monitoring the implementation of the license conditions. The establishment of a single annual deadline aims to discipline reporting, increase transparency and strengthen the supervision mechanisms over licensed entities in the production of electricity.
