"Business Angels", in the service of art Strategy, how does high finance change the economy of creative industries?
For years, the debate on culture in Albania has focused only on state budget figures or the usual discussions about theater stages. But the National Culture Strategy brings a change in the way of financing, bringing into play corporate markets and high finance instruments.
The most innovative and unexplored point of this strategy is the involvement of "Business Angels" in the arts. Through this mechanism and the guarantee instrument for cultural investments, private capital will be directed directly towards artistic projects and creative industries, breaking the myth that culture must survive only through bureaucratic state funds.
On the other hand, this financial revolution is not only aimed at big business. For the first time, the strategy foresees the launch of a Monthly Compensation Scheme for Bearers of Intangible Cultural Heritage, which will be piloted in three municipalities of the country. This measure offers concrete financial support to craftsmen, old masters and bearers of traditions who risk extinction due to economic impossibility.
These instruments are also accompanied by the long-awaited implementation of the Artist Status, which guarantees fair and facilitating taxation for creators, supported by direct mechanisms such as the "Creator Bonus" and the "Art Bonus".
As corporate finance becomes part of the cultural ecosystem and masters of tradition secure a monthly salary, it remains to be seen how quickly these figures will move from strategy papers to the country's vibrant economic market.
