Expansion of oil extraction/ Albpetrol seeks investor for Gorisht-Kocul field, application deadline until November 2
The state-owned company Albpetrol has officially opened the competition for the selection of a company that will develop and produce hydrocarbons in the existing Gorisht-Kocul field, one of the traditional oil production fields in the country.
According to the published announcement, interested companies can apply for a Hydrocarbon Agreement until November 2, 2026, while one of the main conditions of the procedure is the prior purchase of the technical data package of the field. The documentation must be submitted in physical form to Albpetrol in Patos.
The procedure was opened following the order of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy, which authorized the start of the process for the development of the field, while aiming to attract new investments in one of the existing oil production fields in Albania.
According to data published by Albpetrol, the Gorisht-Kocul field has 284 wells in its inventory, of which 142 are active for oil and gas production. The depth of the wells ranges from 700 to 1,500 meters, while the oil produced is classified as relatively heavy, with a specific gravity of 0.965 gr/cm³.
Data shows that the field's production has been relatively stable in recent years, with around 30,000–33,000 tons of oil per year. During 2025, 29,243 tons were produced, while for the first half of 2026, production reached 9,634 tons.
