Edi Rama: The new pension scheme enriches the current scheme, here's how it will work

A combined scheme where the state and the private sector will invest additional funds that will join the current pension fund. This is more or less the new scheme that Prime Minister Edi Rama presented today in his two meetings in Lezha and Durrës. According to the Prime Minister, if someone decides to withdraw 1 euro from their salary to invest every month in their pension fund, the state will also invest another 1 euro for its employees and thus there will be 2 euros "that go to the pension fund which is gradually starting to take shape and become a guaranteed fund.
At the Durrës meeting, Rama explained this new change in more detail, where he said:
"We are at a time when we are often talking about pensions, it is that these salaries are secure salaries also in terms of social security. So, those who work here and work in these new realities of Albania work for today and are insured for tomorrow and here perhaps it is the place to add just something that we are preparing a new pension scheme that will not replace it, but will enrich the current scheme by giving the opportunity to all employees who want to save more for their pension, to place any percentage of their salary in a special fund, which the state will match with the same amount.
So, if we are saying that someone decides to take 1 euro out of their salary to put it every month in their own pension fund, which will then be added to the pension they will receive from the normal scheme, the state will put in another 1 euro and thus it will become 2 euros and of course this will be combined, the state for state employees, the private sector for its own employees and this will cause the pension fund to gradually start to take shape and be a fund that guarantees, both those who invest in the fund, but also guarantees the connection between the private sector and the employee, in the long term because what we are seeing at this time when technology is making great transformations and is replacing humans in some aspects is at the same time the need for highly specialized human resources and at the end of the day it is very clear that robots will not be able to meet all the human resource needs of the enterprise and therefore every enterprise today is very interested in specialized employees or employees who are willing to specialize.
