Electricity deposits - ERE: Plant operators must register, obligation to exercise the activity

Operators of energy storage facilities must register with the Energy Regulatory Authority in order to carry out their activities. This department informs that the obligation arises from the new law "On the electricity sector", according to which entities that have plants under development or in operation and do not have a special license for the operation of the energy storage facility, must be subject to licensing procedures.
The submission of documentation is done physically or online, while after receiving the notification, the Entity may request additional information or documentation, in order to register and administer the Registry of Energy Storage Facilities.
The new law "On the Electricity Sector" provided for the expansion of activities related to licensing and supervision by the Energy Regulatory Authority. According to it, the operation of electricity storage facilities was added to the list of activities requiring a license.
According to the accompanying report at the time of the adoption of the law, the changes reflect the expansion of the functions of the energy market and aim to create a more flexible framework for new activities, while simultaneously guaranteeing supervision and regulation by the ERE.
Energy storage is considered essential for a modern, sustainable and efficient energy system. This is for several reasons, ranging from balancing production and consumption to reducing costs.
