What are the costs of immigrants who want to vote? - By noon on Monday, there

The process of registering Albanian immigrants who wish to vote in the May 11 parliamentary elections has started. The vote of immigrants will be counted in the county where they had their last place of residence, but how will the application process be carried out?

To start registration, immigrants will need to create an account on the PER platform, which is free of charge, using a phone number or an email address, as well as filling in personal data, date of birth, place of birth and personal number.

To register, voters need to verify their facial appearance through a camera, submit their phone number and ID card information. Meanwhile, the CEC accepts various documents as proof of the voter's address, including bills for various services such as water, gas, electricity and bank documents.

But voters from abroad may be denied the request to register as they have not met the criteria, the CEC chairman emphasizes that there will be no penalties as they can reapply until March 4.

Ilirjan Celibashi, Chairman of the Central Election Commission:

"Until March 4, they can reapply as often as they want. If your application is rejected for any reason, you can resubmit your application as often as you like until March 4."

But what are the costs of the immigrant vote?

Meanwhile, 5 million euros have been set aside by the government, so that the CEC can pay the postage for the emigrants' vote, while according to Celibashi, changes are expected in the Electoral Code so that the voter does not have any costs in this process.

Ilirjan Celibashi, Chairman of the Central Election Commission:

"There is a need for intervention and changes in the Electoral Code. For example, the cost of paying for the postal service, the issue of deadlines for the registration of electoral subjects, although we do not have a final judgment on this.

We hope to have the same understanding if we have to make changes, there are others related to the administration of voting from abroad, the counting of ballots. The possibility of intervening in the Code can be looked at to better respond to the legitimate interest of each political side in this process because it is important that this process enjoys the trust of all parties"

Meanwhile, since January 11, the registration of immigrants has officially started. But after three days, referring to the data of the Central Election Commission until noon on Monday, the number of applications has reached approximately 8773, while 1130 requests have been approved. In the same data of the Central Election Commission, a high number of applicants are mainly in the age groups of 26-35 years and 36-45 years.
