Where does Albania import fuel from? About 42% is provided by Saudi Arabia, Greece and Turkey
In an increasingly globally interconnected economy, imports play an essential role in supporting industries and meeting consumer needs. The data for 2024 show a significant diversification of Albania's trading partners in terms of fuel imports. The value of total imports during the period January-November 2024 reached nearly 72.84 billion ALL, or 14.4% less compared to the same period of 2023.
"Scan Intel" has analyzed the figures to understand which were the main countries from which Albania imported fuel. With a total value of nearly ALL 17.2 billion, Saudi Arabia ranks as Albania's main trading partner for fuel imports. In second place is Greece, from which we imported 9.7 billion ALL of fuel. Meanwhile, Turkey ranks third, where the value of imports reached ALL 5.2 billion. On the other hand, Algeria has contributed fuel imports with a total value of 5.21 billion ALL, while Kosovo with 3.72 billion ALL.
But how much weight does each country have in the total imports made during the 11th month of 2024?
Saudi Arabia, as one of the world's leading oil producers, accounts for the largest share of fuel imports in Albania with 22.2% of the total. On the other hand, Greece accounts for 12.5%, Turkey 6.7% and Algeria 6.6%. Meanwhile, countries such as Kosovo, India, Italy, Egypt and the United States account for less than 5% of the total each. Specifically, according to the data, their share in total imports realized in the 11-month period of 2024 was from 3.6% minimum to 4.7% maximum.
So, foreign trade data for the import of fuels show a significant dependence of Albania on Saudi Arabia, Greece and Turkey which cover almost 42% of the total.
