"Giant" wind power plant in Tropoja - Project details 1.2 billion euros, 100 wind turbines with a capacity of 636 MW
One of the largest wind farms in Europe is expected to be built in Tropoja, according to statements made a day earlier by the Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Belinda Balluku.
She said that the project is in the authorization phase, while TV SCAN reveals the details of the project, which was approved by the Strategic Investment Committee in December 2023.
The status of potential strategic investor has been granted to the company Eralb Invest 2 shpk, for a combined wind and photovoltaic park in Tropoja, with a total installed capacity of 826 MW.
The project consists of a wind energy park with a capacity of 636 MW, where 100 wind turbines will be installed, as well as a photovoltaic park with a capacity of 190 MW, where 418,500 solar panels will be installed.
The investment value of the project with strategic potential is expected to be 1.2 billion Euros, and it aims to be implemented on an area of 384.6 ha spread over the villages of Viçidol, Berishë, Luzhë and Paç, in the Municipality of Tropoja.
The project is divided into three phases: measuring wind resources, determining the route and location of the turbines, and applying for final strategic investor status.
If finalized, this development turns Tropoja into one of the most important areas for renewable energy, not only in our country, but also in the region and beyond.
