"Bread and Heart", the festival of international architects - Rama:

“Bread and Heart” is the festival that brought together over 150 architects from Europe, Asia, North and South America, who work in Albania. Together with their local partners and guests, they became part of this festival where they shared experiences and discussions on the challenges of urban and social development.

Present, Prime Minister Edi Rama, during his speech, paralleling it with the holiday of Kurban Bayram, considered this festival, the Bayram of the soul, as an act of taking steps forward.

“Albania is not a country that attracts the world’s greatest architects with money and glitz, but with the belief in the reality of a dream. Something full of life, unrepeatable, yet incredibly free from the comfort of regulations that we do not stifle. This festival is a Bajram of the soul, an act of stepping forward not to dominate the earth but to listen to it.”

According to Rama, Albania is currently in the phase where it produces more architecture than all of Europe combined.

"Honored architects, young and experienced, dear friends of Albania who have come here from both hemispheres of the world, architecture can transform not only spaces, but also the imagination of a community, its vision for the future and its self-confidence. I wish you a warm welcome here, in an Albania that today produces more architecture than all of Europe combined. Today we begin a new adventure together, to build a spiritual space."

Prime Minister Rama further stated that Tirana has become a catalyst and that the projects that arise in Albania are resonant with values.

"Albania has become a port of hope, international architects are coming in numbers that just a few years ago we would not have imagined. Tirana today is no longer just a stage, it is a catalyst. The projects that are born in Albania are not local mediocrity or global clichés, they are alive, resonating with value. In a world obsessed with icons, what is unfolding here seems almost supersive, something that is created as common, but like nothing else before. What is more important is daring to build between what is truly common, as an act of creation. This festival is not about architecture as a profession, but as the closest human act, to create spaces where life can grow and protect itself."

This festival puts Albania on another prestigious map of Europe, creating the premises that in a few years from now, the "Bread & Heart" Festival will turn into a prestigious global event, with architecture at the center, but with an increasingly wider range of disciplines included in the debate.
