710 million euros from employee contributions - 5-month period, income from TAP also increases significantly
The tax administration has significantly increased the revenues collected in the state budget in the past 5 months, mainly in terms of social security contributions and personal income tax.
According to data from the General Directorate of Taxes, revenues from Social Security and Health Insurance contributions for the period January-May 2025 have increased by 3 billion lek more than planned or 4.52% more, while compared to last year's figure, the increase is 7.7 billion lek more, or 12.1%. Specifically, in 5 months, 71 billion lek or 710 million euros have been collected from this item.
While in May 2025 alone, contributions resulted in an increase of +8.2% compared to the plan and +1.5 billion lek compared to May 2024.
The progressive increase in income from contributions reflects the wage increase reform undertaken in the last two years by the government and its fight against their understatement.
Likewise, Personal Income Tax recorded 4.5 billion lek more than the plan for the first 5 months of 2025, or 15.33% more, while compared to the same period in 2024, the increase is 7 billion lek, or 26.26% more. In total, 34.1 billion lek or 341 million euros were collected from income tax for the first 5 months of the year.
In May 2025, TAP results in an increase of +17.2% compared to the plan and 1 billion lek compared to May 2024.
This item has also been affected by anti-informality and the increase in salaries in both the state and private sectors. Meanwhile, the reduction of the DIVA declaration threshold to 1.2 million lekë and the payment of the obligation arising from it by employees and dual employees in the country have also made a significant contribution.
