Exchange rate compensation mechanism for exporters, Economy Committee in consultation with business
At the request of the Proeksport Albania association and with the support of several right-wing and left-wing deputies, a hearing was held in the Economy Committee, chaired by the chairwoman of the Committee, Mrs. Milva Ekonomi. According to a statement from Proeksport Albania, it was one of the few times when the majority and the opposition have come together to help the sector. After numerous discussions, it was decided to draft a letter to this Committee with emergency and long-term requests.
According to exporting entrepreneurs, the main requirements are these:
1. Emergency measures (sector rescue)
- Exchange rate compensation mechanism for exporters.
- Review of TAP in relation to the minimum wage to avoid the effect of "fiscal leap".
- Compensation of social security contributions for a transitional period.
2- Medium and long-term measures (sector transformation):
- AIDA – increased support for technology and innovation.
- Policy on inputs and reduction of operating costs.
- Increase depreciation for machinery and equipment to encourage investments.
- State guarantee for financing and liquidity of the sector.
- Measures for managing social costs and maintaining employment.
